We started Onyx House with a shared love for beautiful spaces, and beyond that, a shared vision for a better way to work. After years in the model home industry, we saw an opportunity to create the kind of design partner we knew homebuilders needed: creative, honest, reliable and respectful of the bottom line.
Together, we’re bringing a refreshingly straightforward approach to interior merchandising. No unnecessary complications or inflated expectations—just thoughtful, market-driven design, clear communication and a team you can count on from concept through installation.
SAVANNAH SCHAFER
PrincipalWith 20 years of experience in interior merchandising, I’ve had the opportunity to build a career doing what I truly love—creating beautiful, functional spaces and bringing homes to life. Over the years, I have gained an abundance of knowledge and experience and had the pleasure of working alongside many wonderful builders and industry professionals.
I’m a proud mom of three boys, so home has always been especially meaningful to me. I love working with model homes and exploring all aspects of design, from creating a vision to seeing it come together in a finished space.
My passion for interior design began as a teenager and expanded by attending college and earning a degree in Interior Design. That education, combined with two decades of hands-on experience, has given me a strong foundation and a deep appreciation for the industry.
Now I’m excited to take the next step and build something of my own.

PrincipalFor as long as I can remember, design has been my native language. What began as a childhood habit of constantly rearranging my bedroom evolved into a formal degree in Interior Design, early experience with a top-tier design firm, and a rich, 20-year career in model home merchandising. To me, interior design isn't just a profession—it's a lifelong calling that inspires everything I do.
That same vibrant energy carries over into my home life. My husband, Tony, and I have mastered the art of balancing our busy work routines with the organized chaos of raising three active, sports-loving daughters and keeping up with three energetic dogs.
Launching my own firm has been a lifelong dream. Today, I’m thrilled to partner with Savannah to take this vision to the next level—delivering thoughtful, beautifully curated spaces that truly feel like home.
